VISUAL ART The distinguished painter La Rae Zawodny will be the artist whose work will be showcased in The Camellia Lounge. LaRae Zawodny is a multi-media artist with interest in sound, movement, story-telling, and the visual.  Her paintings and sculpture are often inspired by dance and music.

The paintings in this exhibition titled Ancient Memories & Prophecies are an eclectic group of images from over a long period of time with one commonality.   They seem to have come from collective memory. . . a Viking ship,  the crescent moon over a temple, a Chinese landscape, a fiery place, a scene of bizarre mountains.

LaRae studied with Karl Benjamin, Roland Reiss, and Michael Brewster at Claremont Graduate University in California where she earned her M. F. A. She has shown her work widely and enjoyed teaching.  Zawodny’s work is rich in dramatic imagery and use of color. Her paintings are large in scale accentuating the intimacy of the atmosphere in the Camellia Lounge.

A Cover Charge of $7 goes to pay the musicians. Seating is limited. RESERVATIONS can be made by telephone (503) 221-2130 during business hours or at the door.
